I love this zoo for so many reasons but at the top it is kids friendly, safe for the kids even if they run off they can't go anywhere there is only one entrance that is gated. All of the animals are at kids viewing level, very rarely are any animals out of sight. Every exhibit is informational. The kid zone is great for letting the kids burn some energy after the zoo and for mom and dad to rest. Last but for me most important you know you are spending money for a great cause everytime you go PDZA is a conservation zoo which is one of the reasons it is not as big as many other zoos they would much rather the animals be in the wild than in captivity so their main purpose is to work with others around the world to maintain the wild population of all the animals they have at their zoo. On that note being a member has many benefits and really pays for itself in one or two visits. Not just there but northwest trek down the road from them. Once you are a member the only out of pocket cost to visit is food and gas. No parking fees or any other cost if you pack your own lunch. Well worth every penny I spend every year.
